2st World Championship in Portuguese/Spanish Draughts (64 Squares)
8th to 13th May 2024 – Albufeira(Portugal)

REGULATIONS

  1. The organization of the World Championship Classic and Rapid Portuguese (Spanish) draughts 2024 has been allotted by the FMJD 64 section portuguese/spanish draughts to the Portuguese Draughts Federation.

3.Venue of the tournament and accommodation Tournament will be held at Albufeira. Official tournament hotel is INATEL

4.System of competitions: Two tournaments are held according to the Swiss system, 7 rounds, a micro-match of 2 games, the winner of the micro-match receives 2 points, in case of a draw - 1 point, the loser - 0 points. Time control is 1 games of micro-match in 15 minutes +5 secund for 1 turn in classical system and 5 minutes +3 secund for 1 turn1 games of micro-match in the rapid system. The draw for openings will be made according to the table approved by the panel of arbitrators in agreement with the Portuguese Draughts Federation.

5.Determination of winners: The winner is determined by the greater number of points scored. In case of equality of points, additional criteria are in the following sequence:
A.Truncated Solkoff coefficient
B.Highest Number of Victories
C.Personal match

6.Official titles:
A.World champion Open in Portuguese(Spanish) draughts version in classic.
B.World champion Open in Portuguese (Spanish) draughts version in rapid.

7.Money prizes: A minimum of 2000 euros for the classic tournament, and a minimum of 1000 euros for the rapid tournament will be provided. The final amounts and distribution of prize money according to the places will be announced at the opening ceremony of the tournament, using the criteria defined by the FMJD as a basis.

8.Registration/Awards Applications must be made by the national federations or players themselves to the email geral@fpdamas.pt for Portuguese players and draughts2023@mail.com for foreign players

9.Deadline for application is Aplil 10th 2024.. As the number of participants will be limited, championship organizing committee in consultation with the FMJD section 64 portuguese/spanish draughts will decide upon final number and a list of participants. Medals and diplomas to be awarded to winners of the first three places. Cups to be awarded to the winners of the both tournaments.

10.Protests to Jury d'Appel Jury d’Appel is to be established by the Portuguese Draughts federation and members of it are to be announced at the opening ceremony of the tournament. Any protest to Jury d'Appel should be given in written form (in English) to the main referee not later than 5 minutes after the game. Each protest is valid only after paying a deposit of 100 euro. The deposit will be returned only if a protest will be accepted.

11.Competition fee Competition fee is 50€, which will be used for Prize money. Payment of the Competition fee should be made by the bank transfer until April 30 at latest to the following bank account: PT50 0035 0278 0000 3294 8303 4 and sending proof to geral@fpdamas.pt. As an exception, payment in cash is possible.
12.Accommodation Free accommodation will be provided to one player from each country/federation, the winners and runners-up of the 2023 Championship, as well as 4 participants by decision of the FMJD section 64 Portuguese/Spanish draughts.

13.The remaining players and accompanying persons are provided with accommodation at their own expense.
Miscellaneous Full responsibility regarding prize money, payments to referees, diplomas, cups and medals, free accommodation and any other financial and material obligations belongs to Portuguese Draughts Federation. All rules concerning games – rules described in FMJD annexes are valid for this tournament. If anything is unclear in the FMJD rules or in these regulations, the decision will be made by the Main referee in agreement with the championship organization committee and FMJD 64 section Portuguese/Spanish draughts.
